Fionnabhair WIT Beer

The White Hag

This beer will refresh your senses like a blast of Atlantic air on a spring morning at Strandhill in County Sligo. Lots of beers claim to be refreshing, but this 5% ABV white beer with Curaçao orange peel and coriander literally quenches like no other.

A 400-year-old Belgian beer style that evolved as the specialty of Dutch-speaking Flemish Brabant Province east of Brussels. Allegedly the Dutch brought spices from far and wide into the Witbier equation. The style had all but disapearred by the 1950's until a labour of love by Pierre Celis at Hoegaarden brought this refreshing botanical beer back into vogue.

Peachy-gold, topped with a head reminicant of waves breaking on the North-West rocky coastline. You'll find citrus, vanilla, coriander, lemon and peach. Refreshes the palate with it's full body. The flavor matches the complex fresh aromas.

Wit is the beer equivilant of a crisp white wine. Perfect with fish. Try a nice spicy fishcake, calamari or sushi. Light fresh cheeses such as young goats cheese or a fluffy feta. Best served at 4°C.
